It Takes a Village to Heal
Updated: Oct 12, 2020
Remember the phrase "It takes a village?" Well I've been thinking a lot about that lately.
It takes a "village" of doctors, nurses, family, friends, pets, nature, and prayer warriors to support a person through cancer treatments.
It's taken a "village" of supervisors, clients, trainers, friends, family, pets, nature, and prayer warriors to get me through my internship.
You know what else takes a village?
Putting your life together after a tragic loss or traumatic event.
Creating your life anew after major transition, especially after years of someone else telling you how your life "should be" lived.
It takes a village to heal one's soul.
It takes a village to empower a person. (because let me tell you every inner "demon", their inner critic, and every person who doubted them in the past is creating a symphony of 'you suck' in their head, non-stop, everyday.)
Who's in your village?
Family, friends, pets, guides (seen and unseen), physical therapist, doctors, psychotherapist, chiropractor, massage therapist, baby-sitter, minister, prayer circle, the people who get you and accept you the way you are, the trees, the ocean.....the Omnipotent One....I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I want you to think about your "village" and what they mean to you. This is the season for harvest, for examining the bounty of your life. Did you realize your village is a part of your bounty?
I'd like to take this time to acknowledge my village, and guess what? You're apart of it! By reading my blog you give me a voice to share my musings with.
Thank you for being in my village.
